What was your childhood ambition?

To find a hidden treasure and/or win the lottery, worth millions of dollars so that I could buy a large ranch in the countryside and adopt all of the homeless dogs and miniature ponies from the Humane Society and the sad shelters that they show on television commercials with Sarah McLaughlin singing in the back ground. At this ranch, the dogs and miniature ponies would run and play with toys and there would be a giant pool where they could run and jump and splash everywhere. Wait, was this supposed to be childhood ambition or adult? Either way, it's the same.

What’s one of your proudest moments?

Completing El Tour de Tucson in 2013. It was the first time in 30+ years that it rained the day off of the event. It rained early morning and during the race; the road conditions were awful and we started the race drenched and cold. By mid race, I had very little energy left and both mine and Joey's legs began to cramp up. Thanks to prayers, laughs and the thought of a delicious burger as my motivation, Joey and I crossed the finish line along with our dear friends Dave and Vanessa Arellano. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Philippians 4:13

What inspires you?

God's creations, all of them. There are times that I think of the world and humanity and I get discouraged and wonder "how did it get this bad?" Then I look over at the Tucson landscape and see beautiful mountains and desert trees and plants and I think "My God created that beauty". I'll see children laughing and playing with such innocence and love and I think "My God created that beauty". I'll see a struggling homeless person on the corner and a stranger stopping, smiling with compassion and giving them money to help and I think "My God created that beauty". I get inspired that God created life, love, and kindness and despite all of the hate and downfall around us, God created a beautiful world and with Him, through Him, that beauty will continue forever.

Why did you first come to TCI? Why Did you Stay?

A family member invited us and it felt like home the minute Brother Jimmy welcomed us at the door! There is unspeakable joy at TCI, you cannot leave service, gatherings, or meetings feeling anything but loved, joyous and praising God. We've stayed at TCI for these reasons and also because of TCI's genuine love and desire to serve the community. Reaching Raising and Releasing isn't a slogan, it's our purpose.
